What is Body Contouring?

Let’s start by telling you what body contouring isn’t. Body contouring is not a weight loss solution. Body contouring procedures are designed to help people to remove stubborn fat pockets that can’t be removed through exercise and diet. In other words, body contouring focuses on fat reduction by targeting fat cells from certain areas of your body.

Every person has a certain number of fat cells in their body. The number of fat cells we have in our body is fixed and cannot be changed. This means that when you gain weight, you don’t produce additional fat cells. You just enlarge the fat cells you already have. As soon as you start losing weight, the same fat cells will start to get smaller. And this is how gaining and losing weight actually works!

While you cannot add additional fat cells to your body, you can remove and destroy them. For good! Body contouring procedures eliminate fat cells from your body without any way for them to regenerate or be replaced. As soon as you “attack” those stubborn fat deposits through body sculpting techniques, you will be able to enhance your natural shape!

Non-Invasive Fat Reduction

Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as fat freezing, is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that uses cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. The procedure is designed to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that do not respond to diet and exercise. It is not intended for people with obesity. The technique has been patented under the name CoolSculpting™. Does not treat visceral fat - inside the abdominal wall - between muscles, or surrounding the liver, heart, intestines etc. this type of fat can only be treated through diet and exercise.

What areas of the body are best suited for cryolipolysis?

The Food and Drug Administration has approved cryolipolysis to treat fat deposits beneath the chin, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, hip/flank (“love handles”), upper back (“brassiere rolls”), lower back, and underneath the buttocks.

How is cryolipolysis performed?

The size and shape of the fatty deposit is assessed and the area to be treated is outlined with a skin-marking pencil. Clients are awake during the procedure.

A handheld device called an applicator is used to freeze the layer of fat cells (adipocytes) underneath the skin. First, a gel pad is applied to the area to protect the skin. Next, the fatty bulge is suctioned or vacuumed into the applicator’s hollow opening. You will feel a tugging or pulling sensation as suction is applied. These sensations, intense cold plus other possible sensations – tingling, stinging, aching, cramping – lessen after 5 to 10 minutes as the area becomes numb during the cooling down process. The fat layer is gradually cooled to the target temperature.

It takes up to one hour to treat an area. After the area is treated, the applicator is removed. The area may be massaged for 2 to 3 minutes to assist with the breakdown of the fat cells.

How are fat cells destroyed?

The technique is based on the finding that fat cells are more susceptible to damage from cold temperatures than other cells, such as skin cells. The cold temperature injures the fat cells. The injury triggers an inflammatory response by the body, which results in the death of the fat cells. Macrophages, a type of white blood cells and part of the body’s immune system, is “called to the injury location,” to rid the dead fat cells and debris from the body.

How much localized fat can one expect to lose from cryolipolysis and when will I start to notice results?

Studies have shown an average fat reduction of between 15 and 28 percent, or 1-2 inch loss. You may begin to notice changes as early as 3 weeks after treatment. Dramatic improvement is noticed after about 2 months.

What are the advantages of cryolipolysis?

There are many advantages to cryolipolysis:

  • No surgical incision is required.

  • It is a low risk procedure. There is no risk of infection.

  • Clients do not need to be sedated or anesthetized before undergoing the procedure.

  • More than one area of the body may be treated in a single session.

  • Most people can resume their normal daily activities immediately after treatment.

  • There is no damage to nerve fibers, blood vessels, muscles, or lasting damage to skin in the treatment area.

  • Fat cells that have been damaged or destroyed are permanently removed from the body.

  • Patients may experience an increase in self-esteem due to an improvement in their appearance.

What side effects are to be expected immediately after cryolipolysis?

Temporary side effects for the areas that are treated may include:

  • Pain or aches

  • Stinging or tingling of the skin

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Skin discoloration or bruising

  • Skin sensitivity or numbness

Side effects may persist for a few days to a few weeks after treatment. Your doctor may recommend that you take an analgesic medication to relieve pain or other discomfort.

Are there any people for whom cryolipolysis is not recommended?

Cryolipolysis should not be performed on areas of skin that are cut or injured, contain severe varicose veins, dermatitis, or other skin lesions.

People who have abnormal cold sensitivity or cold intolerance are not suitable candidates. The procedure is not recommended for people who have the following conditions:

  • Raynaud’s phenomenon. A rare condition in which cold temperatures can impede blood flow to the fingers and toes.

  • Cryoglobulinemia. A type of vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels) caused by abnormal proteins that become solid or gel-like in the presence of cold temperatures. It is associated with blocked blood vessels and other problems.

  • Paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. A very rare autoimmune disease in which red blood cells are damaged during exposure to cold.

  • Cold urticaria. A rare condition in which the skin develops red, itchy spots (hives) after exposure to cold temperatures.

  • Cold agglutinin disease. A rare type of autoimmune hemolytic anemia in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own red blood cells. The condition is often triggered or made worse by cold temperatures.

  • Pregnant or Breast Feeding

  • Alcohol or drug abuse

  • Nerve disorders, such as diabetes-related neuropathy

  • Inflammatory skin disorders

  • Skin conditions caused by immune system disorders, such as eczema or psoriasis (in treatment area)

  • Poor circulation

  • If you are on accutane you are NOT a good candidate for this treatment

Skin Tightening

Derived from the scientific concept of Radiofrequency (RF), radiofrequency treatment offers a non-surgical avenue for refining the contours of the body and face beneath the skin's outermost layer. This technique employs advanced devices meticulously crafted to address prevalent skin aging concerns in both men and women, including wrinkles, surplus fatty tissue, and cellulite.

Utilizing radiofrequency waves, which essentially manifest as heat energy, this method serves the purpose of remodeling tissue and stimulating the synthesis of elastin and fresh collagen. In contrast to intrusive procedures that primarily impact the surface layers of the skin, the resultant heat generated by Radiofrequency treatment primarily targets the skin's deepest stratum, the dermis, while sparing the upper layers such as the epidermis.

As heat is a stimulation that promotes contraction of the underlying tissues, especially at the dermis level, soft tissues found within that area of the body compress, realign, and even produce new collagen, a process that normally takes many months to complete. With healthy new collagen present from the deepest level of the skin, exposing such soft tissues to further Radiofrequency waves help sculpt and tighten those tissues into a more youthful and elastic surface.

Risks:

Common side effects include redness on the skin, mild swelling/infammation. Rare side effects include oversensitivity of treated area, sinking in of treated area, blistering/bruising, burn.

Vacuum Butt Lift

The vacuum therapy butt lift procedure is a revolutionary new method for clients to help tighten and tone the glutes, while also breaking down unwanted fatty tissue deposits and cellulite. Vacuum therapy stimulates muscles and breaks down cellulite and fatty deposits which eliminates toxins, therefore improving lymphatic drainage.

The vacuum therapy butt lift works through the application of specialized suction cups along the patients buttocks, helping to correct, tone, and tighten the gluteus muscles. We begin by placing the suction cups along the buttocks for a period of 20-30 minutes, at which time, we increase the pressure based on the client’s tolerance. The procedure is painless and should not cause any traumatic effect to the skin.

The ideal candidate for a non-surgical butt lift is a healthy patient who is close to their ideal weight. This is not a weight loss procedure but rather an enhancement treatment. Butt cupping will not remove excess weight from your buttocks. It aims to tighten and sculpt the tissue, creating a lifted, firm appearance.

Someone who has a lot of loose skin on the treatment area is NOT a good candidate for Vacuum Butt Lift.

Results: Considering the procedure is a non-invasive procedure, it is important to understand that the results will definitely  be different from a full-fledged surgical butt lift, however, most clients are extremely satisfied with their results. After a number of sessions, generally 6-12, clients can expect to see increased size, improved tone, and much improved texture to the glutes. While many women experienced sagging backside as they age, the vacuum but lift can help women to raise their buttocks giving them a youthful, gravity-defying look. Following the original 6-12 sessions, we recommend clients have maintenance procedures performed every month order to maintain your fabulous results.

Risks: Mild bruising, redness in treatment area, numbness in the treated area, and soreness of treated area. Blistering may also occur.
